«Vizii» – a festival that integrates new technologies and art, and creating a platform for dialogue between the viewer and the artist trough modern form of visual «language».
The main purpose of «Vizii» - integrates visual culture in the interests Ukrainian audience, extend its visual experience and an opportunity to become direct participate in cultural changes in society.
«Vizii» festival – it is world-wide names and finding – projects, unforgettable meetings and endless creating energy flows, intense program that will fill up city with the sense of celebration more than 30 days and will be real city’s cultural life hit!
The theme of Vizii-2013 – «Archiving of the visual». Audience together with exhibition projects authors will go on an exciting journey to find the visual traces of time to reinvent their value and archiving personal and public memory for the next generations.
In the «Vizii» space are represented: photography and multimedia, video-art and video installations, art film and media performance.
Photography takes center place at the Festival and proposes audience to have a dip in its diverse world. Documentary projects, art photography, conceptual projects, photo installation – more than 20 exhibitions worldwide will satisfy both amateurs and professionals.
Exhibition program includes documentary photo projects of German Burkhard Von Harder with series about «found negatives of Vinnitsya», the winners of prestigious European competitions Simon Kliman (Slovakia) with portraits present Gipsies of Slovakia and Piotr Zbierski (Poland), traveling the world in search of «strange» feelings, Czech photographer Pavel Banka with dramatic interiors of the former concentration camp, classic Lithuanian photography Vaclovas Straukas with series about school-leavers’ life, completist one-use cameras Algirdas Musneckis (Lithuania), Kharkov outrageous photography – «Shilo» group and others from Sweden, Slovenia, Canada, Russia, Georgia, Belarus and Ukraine.
The program of multimedia screening «Memory» – is touching multimedia stories of photographers from Spain, Hungary, Canada, France, Russia, Ukraine. The screening program includes the projects of special guests: Juan Manuel Castro Prieto (Spain), Tamas Dezso (Hungary), Sara Angelucci (Canada), Melanie Dornier (France, India), Julia Borissova (Russia), Roman Pyatkovka (Ukraine), Maria Morina, Oksana Yushko and Olga Kravets (Russia), Andrew Lomakin (Ukraine), Arthur Bondar (Ukraine), as well as the finalists "Memory" competition: Vadim Kozlovsky, Elena Bulygina, Marina Makarenko and Sergei Poliakov (Ukraine).
Media art program – unique space created within the walls of historical museum «Kyiv Fortress», where creative search of artists embodied in original shape: video installation, video art, media performance. Among the participants – installations from UK, France, Poland, Russia, Estonia, Chile, Italy, USA and Ukraine.
Media art program special project: media performance “Nostalgia << 2012” (Che Kevlin, UK) with background Port Mone music group (Belarus).
«Vizii» presents an exciting Educational program, that will attract attention of general public and those who are deeply interested in contemporary visual culture. The educational program consists of four parts:
Portfolio Review 2013 – place of meeting of amateur photographers and respected experts from around the world (Ukraine, Russia, Belarus, Czech Republic, Slovakia, Poland, Austria, Sweden, USA, Holland, Lithuania). The obligatory visit to the festival recommends an open informal party "Night of Photography", where Portfolio Review participants will demonstrate their works, and where it will be possible to communicate with Ukrainian and foreign photographers, curators, lecturers.
1.The lecturer program « Memory. Time. Photography» - the lectures of historians, fine art experts, theorists, cultural experts, psychoanalysis, who considering the problems of modern human memory and talk about today's visual culture from different sight angle. As part of media art program speakers will talk about today's media archive, touch on the topics of the body memory and performance in the urban space, as well as the theme of memory transformation in the context of the media technology in the arts.
2. Art meetings «Open dialogue» - a public talks with exhibition authors and curators, who will share their creative experience and acquaint the metropolitan audience with the author's outlook on art, media and photography. Throughout the festival will take place meetings with authors and curators of exhibitions Piotr Zbierski (Poland), Pavel Banka (Czech Republic), Anna Block (Russia), Burkhard von Harder (Germany), Andrea Wolf (USA), Che Kevlin (UK), Misha Pedan (Sweden), Michaela Bosakova(Slovakia), Roman Pyatkovka (Ukraine), Arthur Bondar (Ukraine), Victoria Sorochinski (Canada, Russia), Oleksandr Kadnikov (Ukraine), Oleksandr Ranchukov (Ukraine), etc.
3. «Laboratory» - a creative workshop, which invites audience to participate directly in the creation of a unique author's work. At the «Vizii» Festival are presented hand-printing techniques workroom, pinhole photography workshops, professional and amateur photography master classes, books and albums manufacture workshop session. Also for Festival visitors represented family program, which offers film screenings, animation for children, lectures, workshops, excursions for the whole family.
Exhibitions and events of the «Vizii» Festival will take place in the central museums and galleries in the city: Kiev City Art Gallery "Lavra", Art Center "Ya Gallery", "Art Prichal ", Modern Art Research Institute, "Camera"Gallery, National Historical and Architectural Museum “Kiev Fortress“, Ivan Kavaleridze Museum, Dreams Museum, "Kvartira 57" Gallery.
